ABOUT BLUE BANANA & THE BAOBAB GRILL

Heathcliffe & Lea Stewart purchased The Blue Banana in January 2002, when it was located in Fife Avenue. In November of the same year, they moved it to Newlands Shopping Centre, and have operated successfully from these premises ever since.“Blue Banana” is a flower native to Thailand, and also gives the idea of something ‘extraordinary’. The Restaurant specialises in Asian cuisine, with dishes such as Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls, Hot & Sour Soup, Indian Lamb Curry and Chicken and Cashew Nuts. Authentic Thai ingredients are imported and used in order to give a balanced representation of authentic Asian dishes. All the dishes are prepared fresh as and when they are ordered.

Situated right next door, The Baobab Grill is “Truly Zimbabwean.” The symbol and name of the Baobab was chosen as a representation of the strong roots of experience, which support the running of the restaurant as well as the ability to stand tall and remain steady in an ever-changing environment. Baobab Grill offers Zimbabwean favourites such as Half Grilled Chicken, Chicken Livers, Beef Fillet and Full Rack of Pork Ribs.

No matter which restaurant you may be sitting in, you have the choice from the full menus of either Blue Banana or Baobab Grill!

A children’s room is available to diners where children are able to watch movies on DVD and draw on the chalkboard.

Wine List: We have a wide selection of red and white wines, ranging from Cabernet Sauvignons to Merlots for red wines, and from Steins to Chardonnays for white wines.

The Blue Banana is classified as an Exotic Restaurant also referred to as a Speciality Restaurant. The Blue Banana won the Exotic Restaurant of the Year in 2006 which highlights excellence in the overall service, food standards and preparation, menu variety and much more.

Man do I love food. Better yet, I love good food. So when I got to go to the Blue Banana, I was more than pleasantly surprised at what was delivered. I was with a huge group, so there was one of almost everything (it's served family style) and it was all equally good. I didn't find a few dishes that were good and the others were "okay". Everything was well made with a unique and excellent flavor. If, for some reason, you are in Harare and you want a good restaurant to eat at, I don't think I will be able to send you to a better place than this.

... one of our favourite places to eat. However, the last time we went for dinner, we were disappointed with the portion size & shocked that not one single veg was served with the entrée- just a very small, simple salad.

Would love to see a return to the standards Blue Banana has held in the years gone by.

What fantastic value for money on the lunch specials. The spring rolls were delicious and the presentation was yummy!
Now i know where to treat my boyfriend for his birthday!

The lunch specials are so worth it! A great place to treat a friend or meet the girls for lunch. I enjoyed the chicken and chips and the presentation of the meals is neat!
Keep it up and hope to be back soon.
