Millers has taken over the old Wombles premises in Ballantyne Park.  Wombles had a fairly eventful life swinging like a pendulum from being extremely popular and busy to being very quiet.  At times it was more of a bar than a restaurant and at other times the restaurant overshadowed the bar.  Such is the fickle nature of the foodie aficionados.  Admittedly the food at Wombles varied from excellent to mediocre but the fashion for trendy eating and drinking places is almost as fickle as the fashion for hemlines.

The new owners, thankfully, have totally redecorated.  Gone are the gloomy deep maroon paint and the fake Tudor beams. Instead they have opened up the whole venue so that the bar runs nearly seamlessly into the restaurant and the front and one side are almost all glass.  There is an outside seating area and a small playground to keep young children amused and occupied while their parents get down to the serious art of cramming in as much delicious food as possible.  The open windows are great in summer as a gentle breeze wafts through giving diners the strength for yet another course.
