How about on Valentine’s Day this year, you treat your partner to a dinner consisting of Smoked Salmon Ice Cream, Venison Wellington, Rabbit Roulade, Pigeon Carpaccio or Peanut, Chilli and Coriander Galette?

If these names are unfamiliar to you but make you curious, why not try Emmanuel’s Restaurant at the Bronte Hotel on Baines Avenue? These starters are the beginning of the unique and amazing five course meal that the chef has prepared to tickle your taste buds on this very special evening.

In an interview with restaurant manager, Chiara Faccio, Eatout.co.zw established that Emmanuel’s is an upscale garden restaurant which, although located in the heart of the avenues, caters to clientele from as far as Borrowdale Brooke and the visitors to Harare.

How great are pies! And I mainly mean the individual portion sized ones with an awesome range of delicious fillings. Steak and cheese, bacon and spinach, beer boiled pork, and according to one of my Twitter followers (bertiboy) steak and guiness! I could go on but I'll just get hungry! I was discussing pies (at length) over the weekend with a friend, and we came to the conlusion that Americans should give up hot dog stands, and force them to sell pies. It would make the world a better place! Now a question!

Where do you get the best pies in Zim?

At the moment my favorite are from the Pemcol Bakery in Ballantyne Park. They are not so adventurous with their flavors as per the Zim Pie Conventions Act! But they do a great pepper steak and an excellent chicken pie. There sweet pastries are also very good. I am a sucker for a good custard slice or milk tart and of the hundreds of people I have polled, the Milk Tart leader is these fellows, but please feel free to educate me should you disagree!!

I belong to a group that meets for coffee every Saturday morning. We dedicate three hours of the latter part of the morning to get together, have coffee, catch up with each other for the week, forget all our problems and just enjoy being with other women.

"The ambience was perfect for an afternoon out in the garden"

We have a reason once a week to shut out the world, discuss nothing and everything and leave feeling refreshed, invigorated and empowered by the members of our group. It is also an excellent excuse to sample what the coffee shop has to offer and a reason to have a late breakfast or brunch.

We rate each coffee shop simply. Would we come back to it, or does it get blacklisted? To go back to a coffee shop, service would have to be good; that the staff would be able to handle a group of ten or more rambunctious laughing women, and food is good enough to leave home for.

This weekend we were at Willowbean, the coffee shop situated in Willowmead Junctions premises. The last time I was there could have easily been more than a year ago. Coming to it after all this time was a pleasant surprise. It had been renovated; the wall that separated the coffee shop from the nursery had come down and the garden had subsequently extended into a larger outdoor seating area. The coffee shop has always been charming with its open plan design, wooden floors; the mini stream at the bottom of the garden; the seating area under the drooping trees that can be reached by the quaint wooden bridge and the abounding greenery that encompasses the whole garden. It all makes for a lovely setting and a pleasant place to be in to enjoy a steaming cup of java, relax and unwind for a few hours.

After a hard days work, men and women loosen their ties, or unbutton the top two buttons on their formal shirts as all roads lead to their 'water holes' in time for Happy Hour.

Happy hour is a time when a restaurant or bar sells alcoholic drinks at a discounted price. Typically, it is in the late afternoon from Monday to Friday between 5pm and 8pm, depending o

n the establishment. This promotion is intended to boost business on normally slow days before the week end. In most cases it actually lasts more than an hour. Many may wonder exactly how the term came into ordinary lingo worldwide. While it has been noted that humans are the
